Hand Paws Study by Ryngs

Hand Paws Study

Ryngs

Just a warm up sketch, that went from a 15 min exercise to a 45 min one.

My current sketch book was a mess, it was filled with much wasted paper, and disappointment. Just a bunch of unintelligible scribbles that were various failed composition thumbnails. So, I erased the light ones, and tore out the others (10 pages worth), leaving a cleaner sketch book with a few empty pages between some more acceptable sketches and pre-drawings for past paintings. The first page was blank and I needed to do some random anthro anatomy studies. What better anatomy then the ever troublesome “Hand Paws”...

If you are curious, I prefer the plain Blick wire bound sketch books. Good paper, good texture, good whiteness, and solid cover. In addition to being fairly affordable, compared to the more high end sketch books. http://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-wirebound-sketchbook/

And no, that is not a “non-photo blue” pencil I used. It is just a blue Col-Erase pencil. I wanted to see the messy frame work.
