It's about 1am on Saturday morning and I've just finished a fun day of anthroconning (Is that a legitimate verb? Can it be? Please?) when I see red flashing lights down the alley. I figure it's a fire truck or ambulance and decide to brave the alley to look. I don't worry about danger. For one thing, I'm insane. For another, I always figured I look like the kind of person others try to avoid on the back streets at night.
Well, I get closer and see it sure wasn't the lights from an emergency vehicle. Some weird grid of lights. I take some video and read a nearby plaque identifying it as Cell Phone Disco. Apparently sensors detect nearby cellphone signals and feed it to the L.E.D.s
I always wondered why I hadn't seen this in year's past, until I explored this cross-alley some more and discovered I had.
This alley is the same one we took the Bobo pictures last year. The alley also has the bizarre Memento Mori pictures.
For more information on Cell Phone Disco, These are the people who commissioned it and these are the awesome people who created it.
