Well gosh, lady, you're just so charming. It's a mystery to me, too.

Some quickish wonky painting-type thing, trying to get back into actually using smooshy values rather than more cel-ish stuff. And hey look, it's a deer lady I felt like drawing. I should name her. I should name both of them, really.

Now please excuse me while I go adopt ten cats and take up knitting.

Love the bit of character interaction here; it's always fun to get a glimpse of the less-than-glamorous and more "mundane" sides to characters. I need to work on that more myself this year...

Thank you! Character interaction is pretty much one of my favorite things to draw. Half the fun of having characters with distinct personalities and histories in the first place is having them interact, to me.

I definitely agree. After all, a lot of a person's character and personality is reflected in how they interact with others (whether their emotions are genuine or not). It always makes the characters more believable and sympathetic, which is pretty important if you ask me!

Yes, exactly! This is why I have trouble deciding what to do when I want to draw a character, but I don't want to draw one of my current three, just because a new character feels like such an emotional investment. Who are they? Where have they been? What do they do? What makes this character an individual, and how can I show that in a drawing? I find that really incredibly interesting, and it's my favorite challenge to draw.
