I've tried to animate in the past, but I've always either tried frame by frame or tweening in flash.... both methods were very inefficient and didn't work out well for me. But what Dan taught me was that you can take still images, separate the layers, and import them into a VIDEO editor like After Effects (or for me, Sony Vegas). This makes the whole animation process much much easier. I only had to deal with flash to embed the video, music, and make a little loading screen. SO much less hassle.
