PSA: Fake News and Fact Checking

RoyceFox

I know I am a tad bit late to the Fake News party, but here is my take. Back when i was new to FB, i used to subscribe to conservative news feeds. Being a dumbass I was, I beleived most of them, except for the religious parts. I didnt bother clicking on the links and reviewing the arcticles. I bought into them, lock, stock, and barrel. Looking back, I wounder why i so gullible. Backstory aside, Its time to explain about fake news.

Whether you think the Whole fake news is a leverage to create censorship on the internet or a pertty serious information pandemic, Fake news are real things. But we dont need anyone to determine what is fake and what is real. The last thing people want another person with absolute power. However, there are alternative way to reduce the spread of fake news. When you come across a news arctcle on your news feed with titles like "Donnald Trump is gonna outlaw homosexuals" or "Liberals are going to persecute christians," always make sure to check the arcticle itself, check its evidence, and check if others are reporting on it. If you blindly share an article without fact checking, you will end up spreading misinformation that would otherwise ruin a person or group's reputation. No matter how beleivable the arcticle is, always take it with skepticism until strong proof is offered.

I hope this helps

True, but it's hard not to spread fake news when it's something that'll piss people off.

Fake news writers are like trolls. They know what buttons to push to get undeserved attention
