1 out of three landscapes, complete! I’m going to collectively call ‘em “Quaint little cabins with Lovecraftian-horror-trees: The Movie”
...I'm stupid-happy with this thing.
Watercolor & colored pencil on hot press watercolor paper.
Oops, haven't checked back here in a while! To be honest, this piece is pure visual candy for me. The cabin is based on a mill reconstruction near my house and the 'roots' are actually driftwood I found in the middle of a river at a national park. Just a conglomerate of things I could stare at forever. :]
.....the actual Lovecraft story that this reminds me of is The Colour out of Space, written in 1927. Rural farm cabin, horrible mutant vegetation, a strong visual hint that something otherworldly has fallen out of the sky........the Lovecraftian nature of this is truer than you realize! And, hilariously, the story has been made into a movie.
Really beautiful, love the atmosphere of this!

Great lighting and texture! Detailed in all the right places, too.
