Felvine Addiction killed the Melynx by Rorix

Felvine Addiction killed the Melynx

Rorix

Hunter's Log, Feb. 4th

After several uneventful days traveling the tundra, luck finally smiled on me and had me stumble on what I would classify as a khezu, only that I cannot find record of any species of khezu that matches this one. It is much smaller than its cousins (although it might just be very young) and covered in thick white fur with brown markings on tail tip, fingers and feet.

I had followed it for several hours when, much to my surprise, it seemed to eat a handful of herbs (which turned out to be felvine) and quite purposefully headed for the nearest melynx-den... where it dropped the felvine it had gathered before hiding in the snow just a couple steps away. (Half submerged in snow, this khezu is frighteningly hard to spot - perhaps a common hunting/ambush tactic?)

It didn't take long before two of the thieving little buggers emerged. The khezu didn't attack immediately but waited until the two were thoroughly stoked. This suggests that it not only knows melynxes are attracted to felvine, but also that it makes them pretty much unable to flee or defend themselves.

At this point I'm about to run out of hotdrinks, but I'll attempt to attach a tracker to this creature to observe it some more over the next days.
