Top Surgery Fund!

Hello friends!

I'm a 27 year old trans man who has been presenting as male for the past three years. I am planning for surgery with Dr. Garramone and had been hoping to set up a date with him a few years in the future after saving commission money, but my HRT has been sucking all my funds, and my endocrinologist is very concerned with my health and highly recommends that I push hard to get surgery sooner than later, as binding my chest for as long and as often as I have had to due to working outside the home so much could be doing permanent damage to my ribs and lungs.

Unfortunately I can't afford to do this on my own. I'm working a combined 80-100 hours a week between my studio job and commissions, but with school loans and the cost of my injections, there is not much left at the end of the month. I'd hugely appreciate any help in getting to my goal so I can get my chest repaired and be able to live a slightly more normal life!

The surgery plus hospital stay generally costs approx. $8,000, and also requires me to stay in the Miami area for about a week. I am trying to provide $3,000+ out of my own pocket but some help would be really great. Once the total is reached, I'll work on scheduling the surgery and time off for hospital recovery!

Thank you so much for your consideration and for spreading the word. You are all amazing friends and your support has always meant so much to me! More rewards may be added over time!

-Jay

Ah! Man it's rough how much more expensive T-hrt can be compared to estro-hrt and the likes. I was just gushing last week about the affordability of my own meds, and now I see this and---well I'm gonna see what I can do to help.

Chin up. Things will turn. One way or the other I can't say but they'll turn.

Ah thanks, I really appreciate it, it is a very hard road, and going through all this is diminishing my life dreams and goals but at least I will be able to feel a bit more normal and live a bit healthier afterwards! It's enough having the people in my life who care and are there for me while I'm going through this, that's what truly matters. :)

Can't donate myself as I need every bit of cash I have, but I do wish you luck. I've talked with a few who have gone through with this surgery an they've all been pleased.

Thank you! I'm nervous and I wish I was able to get insurance to help or something, but as it stands, I'm doing my best to look forward!

Sadly I do not have the monies right now to help you as I'm currently dealing with my own medical financial costs D: however good luck my friend! I'm hoping to eventually get top surgery as well though first I need to stop being a giant shitbaby and actually come out to most people so I can present as male ._.

Thanks so much for the support, I totally understand lacking funds, it's more than okay to take care of your needs dude. And aww bro I know you'll get there someday! Coming out isn't something you can rush into or just do easily, it took me a few years to go as far as coming out to my dad, and I'm still not out to most of my family, albeit being on hormones, lol. Do you think you'll at least have support from some family or friends?

My family is trying to be supportive at best they can but LGBT stuff is kinda not well known in this area of Canada (especially the B and T of that) so they don't know how to actually support me. The best I've gotten out of either was my dad stopped buying girly things for me by default of Xmas and my mom occasionally remembers to address me by male pronouns x-x. Though for future adventures my mom did say she would help me around my house after getting any transitional type surgery so I have that much at least.

Ah yeah, it's good they're at least trying to support you! My parents refuse to use my chosen name or pronouns, and they hate LGBT people, but they've done their best to tolerate me, which is more than I had ever thought they'd do! Things will get better dude. Hang in there. Resources are already slowly starting to become more widely available and I hope they do in your area too.

Hopefully things will get better D: I don't know about my dad but my mom would probably use my chosen name once I have one. I'm still deciding on it because I'm very particular about what I would want it to be.

My boyfriend is also destined for Garramone next April and we are trying to raise for his fund as well. It's tough pulling together all the money, we're crossing our fingers that we can make it. Best of luck to you!

Do you have a kickstarter/gofundme thing or is this something you're taking commissions for?
