Wait, wrong movie. >.>

This was something of a gag gift from my good friend, b9tribeca, after my mentioning that I took the plunge and got Windows 8. I originally expressed hesitation about getting it, but two things swayed my decision. The first was the low $40 price tag for the Pro version no less, and the other was the select few improvements, among them being faster startup and shutdown times, but which have been proven to be true.

I chuckled when I saw this. Because while I wasn't quite that enthralled by that new Start screen, I was nevertheless intrigued. And so far, I'm still using it.

I really do think that it deserves a chance. Sure the Aero display is gone, and the classic desktop now shares the Metro interface, but it adds another level of completeness to it, with the tablet feel added on to it. I found a game app, that I actually really enjoyed. It reminded me of Galaga, but with more solid color enemies and weapons. Simple, but enjoyable.

So while Windows 8 does explore new territories and takes some chances, I personally think they're mostly worth it. That's not to say it's perfect. But if for no other reason than to get it for $40, the very least you might want to do is to download it, then back it up onto a DVD-R for future use when the time comes.
