Sunken Sanctuary

Been trying to draw more scenery-type stuff. Really went overbearing on the colors, I think, but I wanted a fantastical look.

    This is very nice as-is, though it looks like you've limited your tools to emulate a pen-and-ink look. Is this intentional?

    If you're looking for speed in background work in digital media, adding texture in varying sizes can evoke scale very quickly.

    btw, DAT TRUNK.
    (on the tree. It is very nicely rendered)

      Yeah, the original drawing was in pencil. I left it sketchy on purpose. Honestly, I was a little afraid I'd smother the detail if I went in for clean-up work, too.

      I've got a lot of practice when it comes to background-type stuff and I didn't use a reference, so the perspectives could be off in ways I don't really see, but practice makes perfect. =)

      Also, thank you! I like the tree trunk a lot as well.

    Wow Renon, this is really fantastic. I don't know why you never do backgrounds because you're damn good at it.

      I have found I am ONLY good at it if I'm using physical media D= Pencil or ink pen on paper, if I try to do scenery in digital it all goes to crap like immediately.

      Also I am very lazy and this stuff takes time. e_e;

        You really should try to do more of these. Cause then when you draw on the computer you could use your background doodles as a reference for a background your characters can be in. :3

          This is true! I'm trying to make a habit out of doing more things like this. =d

            That's good. I'm glad. I'd love to see more backgrounds from you.
