I'm often told that I'll just be (more) hurt, rather than if I were to walk away at the first sign of an end. They're not wrong - I often get hurt.

But hurt isn't the same as regret, and the key is this: I do it for MYSELF, not for the other person, or anyone else.

If I give my all, I have nothing to regret. If I don't... I will always be left wondering, "What if I'd...?"

But that, of course, is just me.

Every choice, "mistake" or otherwise, leads us to here. To who we are. Personally, I have some stuff I regret in my past, but if I were given the chance to change them I wouldn't. I wouldn't risk changing where I am or who I ended up as.

I understand and generally agree with that sentiment as well! There may be a thing or two I'd change if I really had the chance to think, but overall, I don't know that I'd like the new outcome/me anymore than the one I am now.

I like your outlook. I don't entirely agree with it, but I like it.

I like that you don't entirely agree but like it anyway. That sort of reaction makes relations with people so much better, I think.

If we can't appreciate things that aren't exactly like ourselves then we'd have a really hard time getting laid. Unless you have a twin, I guess.
