Friend's Parents

Red-IzaK

This commission was pretty unexpected. My University friend rang to me in the middle of August and asked me to draw an 25 years marriage anniversary gift for his parents. He requested me a portrait of his parents looking younger. prettier and in Polish WW II - like uniforms.

The task was... pretty hard. I worked with overexposed photo references. I had to imagine the lightning ... I had to learn how to build a face using Andrew Loomis and Frank Reilly's techniques to succeed.

And I think I succeed. My friend likes it, I'm satisfied as well. I know it's not perfect, especially the face geometry and lighting but I've learned a lot from this.

I'm going to draw more portraits and human figures to build an interesting portfolio.

PS - The uniforms aren't historically accurate!

Thank you! Almost everything had to be done from my mind. I had references but the light and shadow was kinda crappy ;/

All from your mind?? Holy double crap. I suck at humans let alone do it from my mind. You're better at light and shadows than I am.
