Known as the medium-sized flying squirrel, it has a mostly gray back, a reddish belly, and lives above the trees. Here, it gathers food during the day and sleeps during the night in nests built on branches with leaves and twigs. This species is born in the treetops, unlike other squirrels that spend most of their time in burrows underground. Its gestation period is 44 days, then 2 -6 babies are born and develop in the nest. They open their eyes first time after one month. They stay with their mother for about one year, which explains why they only have one pregnancy a year. Their diet consists of seeds, berries, and fruits. They can weigh up to 475 grams.
