The mission was simple enough. The US government needed a target of interest eliminated. It was a touchy issue, so they outsourced the mission to a 3rd party source. namely mercenaries.

Cody and i picked up the mission. The General in charge agreed to our price, briefed us, and gave us our gear and an infiltration via air drop. Our destination was afghanistan. Our target was a suspected taliban official. The US wanted to keep their hands clean of this one, as the target was well known in certain circles.

after parachuting in, cody and i hiked the 5 and a half miles to our over look point. I set up my steyr AUG modified for sniping and Cody went to work as a spotter. It was less then half a day until our target showed up in his range rover.

We both confirmed visuals on the target, making sure it was the man we were sent to kill. Cody made trajectory calculations and i adjusted my scope accordingly

"Eyes on target" i said resting my finger on the trigger. I willed my pulse to slow, breathing in and out a few times to steady my aim
"copy. on a 3 count, fire. 3...2...1...fire" cody said watching through his viewing scope. my finger twitched and the rifle (thankfully silence) jumped. "Shot is Clean, center mass. nice shot"
"piece of cake" I said reaching for our radio. "HQ, HQ, this is desert scorpion. target is terminated, repeat target is terminated"
"copy that desert scorpion, Proceed to extraction point. Your ride is inbound, ETA 20 minutes"
"Copy that"

Moments later as we were preparing to move alarms began to sound throughout the valley. Troops poured out of the barracks like fire ants. It was going to be a long 6 mile run
