(PROMPT) Night Terrors by RainbowFoxy

(PROMPT) Night Terrors

RainbowFoxy

*The midnight, though beautiful in its own way, is also a cruel mistress for those that get seized up and consumed by their own fears. There is little comfort in inky darkness when someone already feels so conflicted and alone; the black of the night disallowing sight beyond several feet could rarely provide security for someone who so desperately needs something real--an anchor-- to cling to.

Grete awakes in the middle of the night after a particularly unpleasant and vivid night terror, the sheer shock and realism of the dream really messing her up. Her chest tightens, she's gasps, trying to remember how to breathe evenly; tears and drool stream down without her even registering, her head still spinning with thoughts and her heart tearing with emotion. The only companion in the dark are the beautiful glittering city lights, and the moon offering some comfort to a grem who could really use a distraction.*

My Prompt entry for January: Fear! This was also a much needed exercise for painted shading, setting, night lighting, etc. I have been feeling rather unconfident with my shading, and I wanted to really push myself. As time consuming as it was, it was really good for me to do. Enjoy!

A non shaded flats version so you can see the detail in the wood grain and colors can be found here!

would say that I'd be creepy if there was someone floating outside the window... but that'd be to terrifying.
