Just a synx by Rainbow Apocalypse

Just a synx

Rainbow Apocalypse

Ever since I got online I've been told some of my art "looks like renders", and once that nonsense started I thought it might be neat to try and see what my stuff would look like if it was actually rendered. Quite a long time ago I took a crash course via youtube tutorials on zbrush, and by the end of that day I had a pretty nice synx-head. Excited, I went on the make the body, and well... you can see what happened.
Of course this synx might look a bit different then what you're used to. Rather then try to make it look nice, or make it look like it was really there, I instead tried more to make it look real, like how I always imagined one would appear in a movie or modern vidya game.
This is my first 3D model, and all I know how to do in Zbrush is shape things, paint and duplicate/separate parts. I couldn't get the neck fluff to come out right, so just assume this synx got wet. Also no BRP or Photoshop was used to touch this up, this is exactly how it will look in the turntables coming later.

Standing Render:
The first attempt to make a synx I tried to be as basic and generic as possible in the pose, but for a synx. Not really a whole lot to say about this one except (as I've shown before) they are alarmingly big when standing straight up. Thankfully you rarely if ever see them like that. That's a lot of weight for that boneless body to hold up =I

Crouching Render:
More of a natural position expected from a boneless thing, though already you can see it start to hang and sag in some areas while the tail looks a bit larger and stubby. Gravity's a bitch, and it appears to be weighing in on this synx hard. If it went completely lax, it may just flump to the ground in a toothy blob.

Loaf Render:
Speaking of blobs, here is one that has deliberately folded into itself (like a kitty loaf!). There are some chicken scratches in the art pack more detailing how this works, but it was still a bit hard for some of my friends to grasp. Perhaps it's fitting that this is the first the public see of it (that is, unless you watch my twitter). Needless to say, that big blob of flesh behind it is the tail completely lax and draped over the legs, with all the organs in the tail being pushed up to the surface. The synx is basically a slug now.

There will be video turntables of all three models in the art pack I'm putting out this weekend, as well as a 4th partial model with the mouth wide open. More details on that pack will surface on Thursday, though I will summarize: more 'never publicly seen' stuff, some higher-res/alt versions of images you have already seen, my whole gallery (as it is) and some dumb nonsense like the synx windows icons I use. It will be $15. Currently finalizing it and sorting my means to send it out now, but if you are impatient just send an e-mail to: synxartpack[at]gmail.com with your paypal address and your username here. When the pack becomes available an invoice will be sent to you.

My good friend acidic (https://www.weasyl.com/~catsamurai) will be handling the artpack once it's up so I can attend to some important business elsewhere. He has done this before, so he'll do a much better job then I could have ._.

    Nicely done!

Awwwww I love it in its curly tucked-leg-worm-eel-vermiform-form. Loaf Render. Synx Loaf. Synx Slug. I want it to scoot around like that then unfold it's limbs and psych some prey out.

Also its neck without the fluff, in the top left, looks like a Jurassic Park velociraptor's or dilophosaurus'. Aside form being wet it could have some mutation that caused the fluff to not grow.

This is incredibly scary. It looks real.
    I don't think I'll sleep tonight.

Gaaah what a fantastic model, look at all those lovely teeth and wrinkles, the amount of detail on this is incredible.
Love that the color and shine on the lips and gums as well.

Do you have any stories, scripts, or anything of the like featuring these guys? I think you could conjure some interesting plots with them, whether it be horror (most likely) or just a cameo in another genre/plotline.

Actually yes. Down the line I will upload more narrative driven things, both focusing on them and other things just involving them in the background.
