Lady Maia Grant, 2019 by RachelTheSeeker

Lady Maia Grant, 2019

I normally pull up old references from years back when I need to draw my vixen Maia. Various revisions later, here's what I've settled on. Decided to give her a new choker (reflecting her devotion to a moon goddess named Veravela, whose design is basically a female, raven-headed Thoth) and edit her top, but her design is mostly just redrawn for 2019. Plus, having her shorts without the weird skirt-thing just looks off compared to her original design. :v

As an added bonus, here's a bit of setting lore on her species, the Fey-Fox. They're long-lived compared to humans and Leonines, though not heavily so: they are usually venerable around 150 years compared to a human's 80. In a fantasy-elf-like fashion, their physical aging slows once they reach adulthood. These elven traits are no accident; they're usually a stand-in for elves in my fantasy world, as I find elves are done to death at this point (to the extent where elves are extinct in the "known world" of my setting).

However, here's a few factoids about Fey-Foxes that aren't immediately Tolkien-inspired. Their origin myth revolves around the lunar goddess of wisdom, Veravela, being so impressed with the accumulated cunning of an aging normal fox that she imbued that vulpine with a humanoid shape, renewed youth and the ability to change other foxes they saw fit as the progenitor of a new race. Fey-Foxes are also mostly terrified of dogs, and have trouble developing muscle mass compared to a human or a Leonine (the latter oft having a slightly easier time compared to a human). Most Fey-Foxes possess an almost instinctual knowledge of the otherworldly, and tend to have an easier time developing magical abilities and being in contact with spiritual entities... for weal or woe.
