This piece of minutia was originally in a draft for one of the chapters of one of my longer stories. I ended up cutting it, as it seemed to hinder the overall flow of the story and didn’t do much to further the plot. However, I think it was an interesting opportunity to explore the characters of Roger and Warren as well as their relationship with one another, so I have returned to it here and fleshed it out a bit. Doesn’t hurt that I’ve been in something of a sentimental mood of late, either. It works pretty well on its own as a standalone story, too.

This slice-of-life type piece takes place some years before the events of any of the other stories I have written, when Roger and Warren were university students attending College-on-the-Hill. Roger turns up at the siblings' apartment battered and bloodied after an altercation.
