It's because of the name-change, and we decided to do the [REDACTED] thing just as a silly running gag until the whole thing gets clarified later on (simply because we found it amusing, but also it's easier than just not addressing their character at all, because that would feel extremely unnatural dialogue-wise and also just cause a lot more confusion in the comments lol
not that the [REDACTED] thing doesn't also cause some confusion, but at least it's something to address the character by rather than trying to avoid using names/pronouns for them altogether XD)-
True, a little fourth-wall-breaking never hurts for comic relief.
Though probably the simplest solution would be for everyone to just call them "Pichu." It works for Ghastly/Haunter after all. Or if you wanna get creative with it, have each character (most of them from Ace) have "nickname" for them, like "Ashchu Williams," "Texas Pichu Massacre" or "LumberjackChu."

That would work for the Pokemon characters, ye! But it wouldn't make as much sense for the human characters that know their name to refer to them as "Pichu" all of a sudden, I don't think-

Ace doesn't know them yet, plus he has a tendency to "nickname" others like he's freaking Tony Stark because he thinks he's funny. :P

Also I know this is kind of a nitpicky detail but, you've always drawn Ace's eyes as the generic "brown." I've been drawing them teal for the past several years.

I remember in the original Ace saying Darkening had a "girlish" scream. The new dialogue is actually better, imo.

Yeah, agreed - I think it fits Darkening's and Ace's dynamic better, plus I'm no longer the kind of person that goes "haha boy do girly scream, sound pathetic because sounds like girl :)))"
(like, that joke can be done well in some scenarios, but here was not a good one for it XDD)

So, are you redacting their name because said name is a spoiler or because their name is in the process of potentially changing? Because in either case, why have the characters refer to them by name this early at all? Why not save the reveal for later?
