But Kei would not heed the harsh words of his pride members. He ran off towards the grazing herds, determined to prove those years of prejudice wrong. That night, Kei came home with enough food to feed the entire pride. He brought home food the next day, and the next day, and the next. It took a month for the rains to come and wash away the layers of ash, and every day for that entire month, Kei worked tirelessly to feed those who had scorned him all his life. He had finally earned the respect of his pride who had counted him out for so long, but that didn’t really matter to him anymore. He had realized that he was worthwhile, regardless of what the others thought.
