Original post: I believe I've been friends with and have known Lady for longer than almost anyone else. We first met on DA around seven years ago, and while we grew apart when I went to college and sort of abandoned DA, I found her work again and reconnected with her recently when I decided to give my DA gallery new purpose and life. She's been a huge inspiration to me over the years and has always provided me with amazing support and encouragement, even through one of the hardest times in my life (when I lost my dad in 2005). She has always been kind to me, and that has not gone unappreciated or forgotten. It never does with me.

Her character, Owl, is and always will be a personal favorite of mine. She is beautiful and elegant in design and has always been a pleasure for me to draw. Her headdress design and symbolism was inspired by Lady's story, "Everything Under the Stars," and her venture into new territory with her art and writing. Owl is sort of an "old school" character now, but she is still loved, at least by me.

Anyway! Enough blubbering. I really enjoyed working on this and experimenting with colors, linework, and focusing on little details and things. Originally, I'd meant for this to only be a headshot like Wielder's gift, but I really wanted to draw Owl's cute little tail. >>;

Oh, and did I ever mention that I really love drawing birds? :>
