My latest song recorded in homage to a low-budget, b-grade, shot on 'not film' film for the podcast 'No-Budget Nightmares.' This one requires some explaining ;)
The movie was great, but VERY hard to come up with an idea.
Cannibal Campout...easy! A Campfire Song!
Redneck Zombies...easy! A Bluegrass Song!
Even my others came out well as 'singer songwriter' homages...but this movie...it just didn't work that way. So I decided to experiment.
What we have here is an all vocal, 'men's chorus' of just me, semi-showtune semi-croony semi-WTF piece. There were over 20 individual tracks, though more than that since some tracks held ornamentals and additional vocals that I didn't give it's own separate space.
80-100 takes, maybe more.
Hummms, ooohs, ahhhhs, body slapping, percussive vocals...all for a song that's somewhere between corny and pretty.
Kinda proud of this one!
OH! And the movie is about a director who makes flicks where he brings in cast members and kills them. In five acts.
