I got a new character today and had to draw it right away! I saw a design (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14817510/) by www.furaffinity.net/user/wry and It absolutely fit what I've been looking for. <3
I still haven't totally nailed down what I want his name to be. I've been looking at purpley rocks for inspiration. I liked Quartz but its not totally caught on.
(EDIT: Figured his name out! He is now called Wick )
And I apparently needed to blow of some steam and just have a bit of fun playing with new brushes and techniques. Tried my hand at CoyoteMange's way of painting, and tried out some of the suggestion on brushes in their FAQ. Unfortunately the way I paint, using that style, my fur looks more like a pinata! I do not have the magic touch (aka the experience of the master :) ) I ended up using Loish's brush set for both the fur and the stars.
Thanks for putting up with me slowly figuring out so many new things in my stream today. I was slow slow slow.

I feel like a latin name or perhaps a name after a constellation, nebula, or star, would be fitting. :')

You know I really like that idea! I'm now looking through constellations for inspiration, as nothing I have found in rocks has really grabbed at me :)

Wry is pretty awesome for being so new. Was pretty pleasantly surprised when they watched me on their first day at FA. Good stuff.
