A fairly straightforward commission - WW1 US Army Doughboy. As I'm fairly inexperiences with backgrounds this was definitely a bit of a headache, especially since I wanted to obtain this calm, sunny, peaceful trench on the green hills of France. I really learned on this one that I paint waaay too dark - all the subtlety I want to put into the shadows just doesn't show in print, or on mobile. So I made the decision to not go under 10% brightness anymore, lol! Especially in sunny summer scenes like this one.
