Harlem Hellfighters Tribute by pimpartist

Harlem Hellfighters Tribute

pimpartist

This is a piece commissioned by the lovely chrismukkah on FA!

The Harlem Hellfighters, or the 369th Infantry Regiment of the United States, was the first African American regiment to fight with the Expeditionary forces in WW1. They were completely segregated by race however they earned their name not because of their race but because of their outstanding bravery and determination. They earned their nickname since they never lost a man to capture, a trench or a foot of ground to the enemy. The French called them The Men of Bronze. Interesting fact: Tiana's father from Disney's "The princess and the frog" most likely fought and died in this regiment.

Thank you so much for checking out my work and this tribute to a little-known part of history! If you like my work and are interested in commissioning me, and not necessarily with something historical, here is my commission info: https://www.weasyl.com/~pimpartist/submissions/1544401/commision-info
