This was done to celebrate the upcoming release of Yokai Watch 2 in the US that was being released on September 30th. I partook in the 30 day Yokai Watch drawing challenge.

Day 1, Brave: Hovernyan/Fuyunyan
Hovernyan is my favorite yokai from the Brave tribe for many reasons. For being a nyan yokai his left ear is not chipped like most nyan yokai which I think is neat that he is the few nyan yokai who doesn’t have a chipped ear. His design is inspired by Kamen Rider and most likely the character Riderman. It’s not that obvious but his belt and scarf/cape are hints of it. I like his serious personality in the anime movie, The Secret of the Birth! Nyan!, and that he is a wandering spirit unlike Jibanyan who is an earthbound spirit. But the main reason I love him is the fact he has alternate forms that change his tribe completely. One of his forms is Darknyan which he become more powerful and grittier. Darknyan’s belt is utility belt similar to batman’s which has a big D on it in similar vain as the Batman logo and they way you get Darknyan in Yokai Watch 2 is getting the dark cape and utility belt (and Hovernyan reads an American comic which parodies batman). Darknyan is of the Eerie tribe and is so far the only nyan that is in that tribe. Also, one of my friend claims that the belt’s logo looks similar to Shocker’s log (Shocker are the main bad guys in Kamen Rider) which I don’t see since I looked up the logos Shocker has used and the D on it just doesn’t look similar. Plus, Darknyan is a hero, just of the dark variety. The other form Hovernyan can become is Meganyan/Dekanyan where is he overeats he becomes this gigantic boss yokai with mushrooms growing on his body. In the first movie, it is shown that he has a cork up his butt and that pulling that cork out releases all the gas he is filled up with. Just….wow. Overall, Hovernyan is a cool yokai with many possibilities.

Now that I have gotten to use him he is still one of my favorite Brave tribe yokai (not my absolute though) he is fun to use and has some cool abilities.
