So this is really awkward and there are better ways to do it than this, probably... This is my first (and only) time making a model in Blender... but I want to compare the Sculptris method to this one. Obviously, sculpting is less tedious but then you have to retopo. Some people find it easier to just model with the correct loops and quads for animating from the get-go. After having tried both... I think I prefer Sculpting and re-toping later, lol.

Yeah, sculpting is a lot more free-flow... though, personally if i am going to do a sculpt for a normal baking, i do try and use the base mesh that i'll be baking down to as the... well, base. It does have it's disadvantages (such as if you have a greedy vert somewhere on your mesh, it's going to risk making that area not so great.)
Still, this is some nice stuff! Glad i stumbled on this video from the front page else i'm not sure i would have found you otherwise.
