Roman Soldiers 1: Hastati by Pharsalus

Roman Soldiers 1: Hastati

Pharsalus

During early days of the roman republic the main body of the roman legions consisted of infantry. The Hastati was the youngest and poorest men in the army, put in the front lines to face the enemy first, followed by richer, older, more experienced men. They were equipped with a chest protector, helmet and spear as primary weapon. They had swords as secondary weapons.
