Last spring my professor called me back out to campus because some of her former students-- now big names at Lucasfilms-- were coming out to visit and give a small talk/informal portfolio review to anyone who came.
Going there and taking notes from their little lecture (most of it was stuff I already knew/had learned in school, but still) was probably the happiest I've been since I graduated. It was a bit of a mental blow to realize part of why I'm so depressed is because I'm no longer in an academic setting where I'm spoken to as though I'm intelligent.
As much as I love the familiar faces I hand coffee to every day, none of them will ever bring up quadratic angles or talk about art history with me and it's a little devastating to realize that I'm no longer in a place where stuff like that is part of everyday conversation.
IN ANY CASE THOUGH, feeling good about myself and invested in what I was doing (even if it was just TAKING NOTES) really got my art drive pumping while I was there so naturally, dumb sketches littered said notes.
NOW I AM SCANNING THEM SO THAT THEY MAY BE ENJOYED BY THE INTERNET.
