Blade of the Virtuous, Sword of the King

Ninth of the thirteen zodiac blades and one of the two greatest of the three divine-master works retained by Won Qu. Pentazer is a katana forged of concept metal into which the virtues of valor, temperance, sacrifice, humility, mercy, wisdom and justice were mixed to form a crystal clear, glass blade wreathed in a divine, blue flame. As a mythal, the ninth blade, like its siblings, is indestructible to all but the most potent, legendary magics and tools of an age that was physically and temporally lost to time and space.

The sword’s spirit manifests as nine-tailed kitsune/ryu dragon hybrid of cloud-white fur and cherry blossom tips. As the “Blade of the Virtuous, Sword of the King,” Pentazer extols the virtues from which he was forged. As such he actually detests combat, upholding the tenet “A sword should be drawn in the defence of others; not with the intent to take life, but to protect it.” While the blade of the virtuous is gentle natured, kind and serene, as temperance would dictate, one of his virtues is also valour. As such, if he is unable to stay his paw, he will not hesitate to kill as long as there is no other option. The 9-tailed kitsune does not condone cowardice or hesitation, rather he respects the brave and the bold. 

As a god of the 10^th rank, Pentazer has divine authority to command lesser spirits or divines and should he be challenged, will happily face that challenge to his rank. This leads to his second title “Sword of the King.” The one chosen by Pentazer Bitokushen to wield him is automatically bestowed the Divine Right of Kings (or Queens) by his own authority. Whomever the sword deems worthy of to be his master is worthy to bear the weight of a crown and demonstrates all the compassion and determination fit to be a regent in an age of mythical wonders.

Well then! This is my experimental GMPC offering himself to the One King, his future master. This twink is for an upcoming power-fantasy campaign that is far more Exalted than it is D&D (in fact, I really should have been using the Exalted rule set but oh well!) and features my sword-spirit femboy displaced from the Lost Era into the Neon Dark Era, twelve thousand years later. Going from an era of extreme high magic, common place gods and wonders to a dark cyberpunk fantasy setting will be very jarring for the god-blade. But in the hands of the protagonist he will shine again!

In case you didn't catch it, he's based on a combination of the Arthurian and Masamune legends. The campaign itself is inspired by Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Muramasa the Demon Blade and of course Exalted.
