Sketchbook Page 1 - October 12th, 2015

Parapraxis

My first ever page in my sketchbook, and the start of a hopefully long adventure in art. Before today, I haven't seriously put a pencil to paper with the intention of making art. The top half of the page I followed along with a tutorial that I found online, and the bottom half was just a quick sketch of a person I saw walking by my window in the rain that I then put the body structure over top of.

Is this good? Probably not. Then again, its the first time I've ever drawn anything. I'm hoping to make some sort of a sketch every single day. The first few weeks/whatever are probably going to be things similar to this. Tomorrow I'm going to try and replicate the top half of the drawing, but without following along with the tutorial, so we'll see how that goes. I'll upload the results, whether they're good, bad, or ugly.

If you read this and know of any decent places I could go online to learn more about anatomy, drawing anthros, drawing humans, or just drawing in general, I'd love to hear about them! Right now I'm mostly finding a variety of stuff on YouTube and on various websites, but if you've got a site you love feel free to let me know about it!

My end goal for all of this is to eventually be able to draw my own characters without needing to constantly commission pieces for them. I'm a college student and don't have access to enough money to get the commissions I want. Obviously being able to draw my own characters is a goal that is WAYYY down the line from things, but I just wanted to state that that was indeed my goal. Most of the situations I draw them in WILL be adult, but my sketches (for the time being) will not be.

Comments, constructive criticism, and thrown fruit welcome and invited!
