I know the feeling of those phases, sometimes they sneak up on you, hah. Good on you for breaking the habit!
Also, I love the colors on this guy, pale pastels work so wonderfully. I also love the gruff-ness of this fellow, an effect the sketchy lineart really accentuates :)
