We Europeans tend to think that every river in the American West runs through long deep canyons. And many I've visited through our travels in fact do. However, it is rather misleading when travel guides illustrate reports about Rio Grande with pictures from Horseshoe Bend — which is in Canyonlands, UT and a bend of the Colorado River, nowhere near Texas.
This here, of course, is Rio Grande, and I believe the only canyon you can find at Big Bend National Park.
