THE KING:

The King of the Alpha Dire Syn, and all Dire Syn, is the one who is reported to by Alphas of each region every Solstice. The King is decided by whomever beat the King before him. It is rare that a female be the King, they fear what might happen to any children they may have.

The current King, Krov, was a bit of a surprise, he challenged the previous king at the age of 12, and beat him. He is now 21 and still maintains his throne. He is MUCH smaller than ANY of his own kind, he stands at just 5'6 and is considered an albino because he doesn't have a summer coat. Every gathering, Krov is challenged, and every time he has been challenged, he has won. No one knows what his lineage is, or how his left horn was broke, but regardless of size and age, he is seen as a powerful, and terrifying figure.

Krov roams through out Europe and does not have a set territory, he is a vicious hunter, and typically wears the tanned skin of the former king around his shoulders as a cape. He frequents villages of other species, and enjoys mingling with the locals, due to the attention he receives. Alphas are a rare site inside any village, but even rarer is one so small and well known as the King.

This is an Alpha Dire Syn, an omnivorous, pack creature that prefers cold climates. The Alpa branch of this species sometimes mate for life, and sometimes do not, it is a personal preference. They have been seen active in both the day and at night, they are highly aggressive, and combative. The alphas come a variety of colors with many types of markings, but all have a winter coat. The main branch of this species has an average life span of about 50 years, none ever die of old age because of how aggressive they are, they are usually killed over territory squabbles or because of a failed challenge, they reach full maturity at 14, and usually stand about 8ft tall.

They mate in the late fall, and pregnancies last three months. Once the cubs are born, the female will raise it by herself if she doesn't have a life mate.

Alphas typically live in caves that they either found or carved out themselves. They are highly skilled at tanning and use fur from other creatures, or sometimes their own species, to keep their domain warm.

It isn't uncommon to find the Alpha branch of the Dire Syn species squabbling with those of other species, however when they have a need, or a yearn. Alphas of this species are known for "sampling" many other species. It's not odd to see one taking a temporary partner of a different species to their rented rooms or to the partner's own home.

This particular branch prefers meat, but many have a fondness for fruit, or more specifically, apples. Alphas will horde as many apples for as long as they can, and will often gorge themselves with them.

The Alpha branch of Dire Syn have large, round ears that are always up, all have "hair" or a mane, and have large, long, fluffy tails that they use to keep their balance when hunting high in the mountains, rather like a snow leopard.

Alphas are in charge of protecting the main branch of their species. If any of the lesser Dire Syn are having problems with other species or tribes, they meet with the Alpha who's region they fall under, and the Alpha will deal with the skirmish.
