The tales were that this restricted section of the building was part of the original structure the casino had been built upon. It seemed like their security had been slacking and Arysdron slid under the ‘No Access’ sign without anyone stopping him.

It was what one would expect from a dilapidated section of a building, with dusty corridors and empty rooms. Nothing of interest, which got Arysdron more and more disappointed as he rounded another empty corridor.

“Hmm, doesn’t seem like…yargh!”

The floor abruptly gave way beneath him. Arysdron felt a surge of magical energy and barely got a glimpse of a transformation ring as he fell through it. There wasn’t even time or space to use his wings.

“Mmmpphhh!”

The numbness throughout his body told him that something had happened to him. He tried to cry out, but it felt as if something was holding his jaws together. Suddenly, he was falling in darkness, bouncing off the walls with limbs flailing wildly about. At some point, he became aware that his body & limbs felt much smaller. He couldn’t even feel his fingers or toes for that matter.

Finally, Arysdron landed with a thump, flopping down onto his belly. Much as he’d expected to get the wind knocked out of him, he hadn’t felt a thing. And his fears were confirmed when he realized that he couldn’t move any part of his body. He couldn’t even blink and his view was stuck staring straight ahead.

Arysdron found that he was in some sort of mail sorting room, probably having fallen through the shafts. He’d landed on a table, surrounded by parcels & letters. As his vision focused, Arysdron realized that his view was locked facing a mirror…and staring back as him was a plushie version of himself.

He would’ve let out a startled squeak if he could, but he noticed the stitching across his jaws, which had sewn them shut. Although he could still feel his limbs & body, he was unable to move them.

His body had shrunken down to the size of a toy. His arms & legs had been reduced to chonky stub like limbs, lacking any proper elbow or knee joints. No fingers or toes either, those having been merged together like a mitten, with only sewn-on paw pads representing them. His wings had been reduced to chibi versions of themselves, along with a rather thick tail. A small label on his tail helped to complete the effect. His eyes too were sewn on in a way that made them look wide, bright and curious.

Great! I’m completely inanimate!

Given how transformation rings worked, he could probably be turned back if he managed to pass through it again. But given his current state, there was no way he would be doing that on his own power. Eventually, he gave up trying to struggle or roar and just lay there. There was nothing else he could do.

What was a transformation ring doing there anyway? Had someone just put it on their ceiling or slipped it under the floorboards?

After what seemed like an eternity, a door swung open & a bored-looking casino worked stepped in to begin picking up the mail.

“Hmm…” The worked picked plushie Arysdron up and examined him. “This is really cute. Must be for the prize corner.”

What?! Hey! I’m not a prize! Help!

Unfortunately, Arysdron could do nothing to show any signs of his predicament. He was loaded onto a cart along with the other packages and wheeled out of the room.

The worker went along with his rounds, with plushie Arysdron on the cart. Arysdron was bumped & shoved about many times as the worker delivered his parcels. The only thing he could do was silently swear in his mind.

Eventually, the cart was wheeled past a video arcade and to the prize store. Arysdron’s view spun again as he was lifted off the cart and placed onto a high shelf in a sitting position. It gave him a full view of the video arcade and the walkway outside. The area was filled with many customers walking back & forth. None of which he could cry out to.

The store clerk brought up a sign and placed it by his foot, before going along with his day. Although he couldn’t see it, Arysdron assumed that it indicated how many tickets he was worth.

I’d better be worth a lot! Arysdron sighed.

If someone won him and took him home, away from the location of the transformation ring, he could be trapped like this for a while!

For now, all he could do was sit, stuck, immobile, and silently watch the world around go by…
