Artists are not Exotic Creatures

the downside to working on irregularly sized canvas things is the editing afterwards. and also presentation. and everything.
also this is the last thing i'll be uploading related to my updating of my artist website. yep.

So I'm a painter in a BFA program and also an art history major (at the same time), and some of my friends thinks that i'm REALLY INTERESTING, which results in them exoticizing me somewhat. They think i'm absolutely fascinating, and i always feel really self conscious because i don't think they realize that being these things isn't some fascinating magical thing, but rather involves locking onself in a room with colored dirt suspended in liquid fat and/or textbooks for 8+ hours a time. The results might occasionally be interesting, but watching the process is hyper boring. ._. i lead a fairly boring life. and I'm okay with that, honest; it's just stressful to Entertain, sometimes, because of that. The best friends for an artist are the sort who bring a book to mutual studio time or who can play games or something without needing the artist's attention for long period of times, and just mutually enjoy each other's presence in proximity. To a lesser extent, this also applies to people who admire my work (written or otherwise) or like me at all, because I'm terrified of the thought that i will inevitably disappoint them, but THAT i think is just a thing that's endemic to being me.

anyway it occured to me so i made a big painting out of it. My first big painting actually. it's ~5' tall.
