A WIP of a model I am currently working on. Still need to add textures!
Lowres modeled in 3ds max, high-res from Zbrush, mid-res rendered in max with mental ray, skyportals using mib_blackbody shaders, AO pass, Final Gather and an HDRI probe environment map.
Character is Ssthisto.

Bugger, still getting used to this interface, ended up putting my comment for this in the shout box somehow.
This really is stunning.
I'd love to get a good look at the low poly mesh some day.
