"For those out of the know: Tyghateek eat their prey whole, and their ribcage facilitates that. The skin folds over them (technically it can be described as invagination), and the halves of the ribcage don’t fuse at the middle. They’re on some kind of hinging mechanism near the spine. The stomach is centrally placed in the lower torso. The heart is to the lower left of the upper torso."

Yeah! Love alien biology! Though I can sympathize with the expression, I've mostly gotten over awkwardness in the doc's office. Though I haven't had nearly so invasive an exam as this, just yet! You learned me a new word today! (and now I want to see a female character say "I have an active invagination!" without knowing what that means... while everyone else does! XD)

I think their expression is not only awkwardness but also uncomfortable-ness in general? It seems like having the ribs forced open like that would be pretttty uncomfy.-
Oh, I would imagine so! It'd be like having eaten an overly-large meal without the feeling of fullness, most unusual!
