Blue Hyters and Bleach Don't Mix

Blue Hyters and bleach don't mix

“Tomorrow, thats the day I will start my new job. “ Ghareen thought to hirself as shi idly brushed hir tail fur; because of hir upcoming new job, Ghareen wanted to have hir fur freshly dyed. The blue of hir fur had began to fade a little, and the brown of hir natural fur color was showing, making hir fur look awfully messy, regardless of how clean it was. That being the case, shi now stood nude before full body mirror in hir bathroom. Ghareen's crimson and green eyes inspecting hirself closely. With a contented sigh, shi began to remove the piercings from hir nipples. Each one, shi lay with loving care, onto the dish shi had had specially made for hir jewelry. Once they had been placed in their proper places, Ghareen turned to a small shelf that lay behind hir in the spacious bathroom. The only real disadvantages shi had ever found was just how much dye it took, and how long it took hir to get hir fur the shades shi wished it. The cost was also a bit of a problem, though that in and of itself was one of the main reasons shi had gotten a job. Once again facing the mirror, Ghareen began to take the dye and work it into hir fur. Before the fumes became to harsh and caused hir to grow ill, Ghareen flipped a switch and the exhaust fan in the bathroom whirred into life working to empty the room of the harmful fumes.

It took the better part of the day, but Ghareen had gotten hir fur the shade she wished it. With a satisfied smile, shi nodded to herself, turning around a few times to assure shi had not missed any spots. Having missed nothing shi nodded once more. Arms full of empty dye bottles, shi walked into the kitchen to place them in the trash bin. Upon entering the kitchen shi was slightly disheartened to see that it was already time to go to sleep. Not wanting to be either tired or late, shi decided to head to bed. That morning, Ghareen quickly threw on hir cloths, grabbed a bite to eat and rushed out the door to catch the local bus. An uneventful hour passed before she finally arrived at hir new job.

“The Better Bleach Company” was spelled out in friendly blue letters acrossed the front of the building Ghareen now stood in front of. Well this must be it, doesn't look like much outside, but for what I'm getting paid who cares what it looks like on the outside. Ghareen thought to hirself as shi walked through the front door. Sitting at the receptionists desk was a smiling faced rabbit women. Stepping to the counter Ghareen said,

“Excuse me miss, my name is Ghareen Swiftpaw, today is my first day, and I'm not entirely sure where it is that I need to go.”

With a nod the rabbit stood, and offered Ghareen a friendly paw to lead the way. While it made hir feel a little childish, Ghareen had to admit that shi liked the soft fur of the paw shi was holding. Before shi had a chance to ask the rabbit how she made her fur so soft, they stopped. Standing before them now was a tall Doberman, his docked tail twitching as he greeted the rabbit quietly. Several moments passed as the two talked. The short conversation ended with a nod and the rabbit bounding off.

“Miss Snowshoe tells me that you are my new assistant.” the Doberman said “Let me be the first to welcome you to the better bleach company family. I hope you find the job to your liking and stay with us for many happy years.” Despite the gruffness of his voice the Doberman's tone was very pleasant and friendly. “Now onto your daily duties.”

The Doberman, who's name Ghareen learned was Mitch, lead them from place to place, explaing things every now and then. For the most part, however, the job was simple. Every morning Ghareen was to check each of the processing tanks for leaks using an x-ray machine. If one was found shi was to mark the tank with a special chalk and alert Mitch so that the proper actions could be taken. Once that was accomplished she was to venture into the chemistry lab to make sure there were no dangerous uses of chemicals or dangerous actions taking place. Days passed, and work went smoothly for Ghareen. Shi was quickly making friends with Mitch and a few other workers shi saw every day.

Hir first Friday came, and Ghareen was elated. Shi loved hir job and all those shi had met. Having finished hir work early for the day, Mitch told Ghareen she could leave early, reluctantly shi walked towards the front door. The only real sadness shi felt was that the shift was over and shi would have to wait an entire weekend before shi would get to see those shi worked with again. Only steps away from the door that lead to the reception area, Ghareen heard a strange sound. Stopping in hir tracks, shi began to look around curiously, ears dancing as shi tried to find what was making the sound. Seconds later the container shi was standing in front of burst. A wall of bleach surged towards Ghareen. All shi could do was shut hir eyes tight and hope that the tank that burst wasn't filled with industrial strength bleach that could potentially melt hir fur off of hir body. As the bleach hit Ghareen it knocked hir flat onto hir back.

Moments passed before Mitch was able to reach Ghareen. Standing and coughing at the same time, Ghareen kept hir eyes shut. Mitch was franticly rubbing the damp fur around hir eyes, mouth and nose so that shi could breath easily. Once the bleach had been dried from hir fur, Mitch lead hir into the showers they had on site for just such an emergency, all the while telling Ghareen to not open her eyes. Upon reaching the showers Mitch was replaced by Miss Snowshoe. The friendly rabbit rinsing Ghareen's body off before she helped hir remove the shirt and skirt shi was wearing. Finally able to open hir eyes, Ghareen looked down and saw what the bleach had done to hir blue fur. Looking down, shi found that hir exposed arms and legs were white, even the spots had disappeared, where cloths had been present the fur was only partially bleached white.

A loud scream escaped Ghareen's lips as shi saw what had happened, seconds later shi was laying on the floor unconscious. It took several long minutes before Ghareen came back around. Sitting up, a constant stream of obscenities began to issue forth from hir now totally white maw. Blushing deeply, Miss Snowshoe began to try and comfort Ghareen. Nothing that she could say or do calmed Ghareen, in fact it seemed to anger her further. Before shi was able to stop hirself, Ghareen was insulting the rabbit. Moments passed and Ghareen's cursing and turned to babbling, with out any thoughts for hir own decency, Ghareen stormed out of the plant still cursing and babbling incoherently. Several hours passed before shi was arrested by the police for public nudity. After running several blood tests on Ghareen to decide what drugs shi had been using, the police found hir system to be completely and totally free of any and all drugs. Having no family anywhere near the town she was living in, nor the country for that matter, the police had no choice but to lock Ghareen in a mental institution for hir own protection. The police, nor the psychologists who evaluated her knew that the mental break down Ghareen experienced was due to hir beloved fur being bleached and not from any underlying condition; because of this shi was never released or properly counseled.

An investigation into why the container had breached found that, unfortunately for hir, the x-ray machine Ghareen had been issued was malfunctioning. While it appeared as though it was working properly, the machine was giving false readings, and had been for some time. A hairline fracture had formed several months prior to Ghareen's starting hir job. No one knew of it until after the container had ruptured and bleached Ghareen, along with several other furs unfortunate enough to be close to the liquid as it hit.
