A Silence Broken by Nambroth

A Silence Broken

Nambroth

"A Silence Broken" Ruffed Grouse and Red Fox, 11"x14" Oil on panel.
Inspired by a real scene near my home, one very cold Thanksgiving morning a few years ago. The sky was clear but the air was so cold that moisture was turning to ice crystals and glittering down in the sunrise, creating a very ethereal scene. All was silent. While I didn't see the fox in person, the tracks in the snow let me know that it was there shortly before I was.

    I just commented on this on Twitter but I wanna comment here too because this painting is so beautiful, and I love the story to go with it! I have experienced similar magical Winter mornings and this just brings wonderful memories of Nature :) Beautiful piece!

    Makes me want to give up painting, I will never be this good! The best part for me is the distance landscape that is just nearly photographic and is perfect in contrast to the closer more detailed part of the picture. WOW!

      Don't give up! I've gotten down before by seeing that others can draw better than me, but I won't ever give up. I don't view it as a competition.

      I often fight and struggle painting still, and I started out making really awful stuff. This is a learned skill, and if you put the time in it will come! Don't give up!

        60 years of being an artist, putting "the time in" is not the issue!

    A stunning scene. I love the light filtering through the evergreens on the mid-right. You handled that very nicely.

    This is gorgeous, I love the warm of the sun through the trees and the cools of the snow. The composition is beautifully done!

    such a magical scene, it's easy to sense that sort of weird quiet coldness. It's enchanting to look at when you're not actually freezing your toes off!

    Beautiful, when air is that cold to have crystals in it ... it is really amazing but also dangerous in lenght ^^;
