Retrochron by Myuphrid

I prime the activation sequence.
It's such a simple effect, really.
What could go wrong?
Time to find out...

The morning brings with it the usual routine of blearily bringing myself to full consciousness, but also a thrill of excitement - for today is the day my latest project will be completed and undergo its first test! It's been quite some time from the beginning of the development of this remarkable device, but it all comes together today...
It's hard not to wolf down my breakfast in anticipation of the last work to be done, but I keep my pace measured - can't do proper science with a tummyache! Soon enough, I'm done, and I make my lab down into my lab...
The device sits in pride of place in the centre of the work bay. A few last modules lie open around it, awaiting the last of their parts, all surrounding the seat wherein the occupant will sit, and experience new advances in temporal technology.
Setting about the machine, it's a long day of work completing it. But it doesn't matter - when it's finished, no amount of time spent on anything will be of any import anymore.
For indeed, this marvellous invention is designed to rewind time, and carry the occupant's memory with it. Coasting effortlessly up the stream of time, surfing on temporal waves into that which came before, returned to the past but forearmed with knowledge of the future! All the time wasted on long hours of research restored, all the uncertainties of tomorrow solved!
At least, that's the theory. It's impossible to tell what might happen when I activate the device, if my hypothesis of retro-chronal neuro-projections do pan out. But compared to what I have to gain from this, the dangers are worth it...
It's the late evening by the time my work is complete. Quite a few hours were lost to careful experimentation, hesitant jury-rigging, and replacement of ruined parts. But now the device might be tested properly, and this would be the perfect opportunity. What better way to prove my device's abilities than by erasing all the wasted minutes of gainless work? Armed with what I know now to do, it'll be only too easy!
Settling into the machine's comfy chair, setting the brain reader around my head, it's impossible not to feel a little apprehensive. Things could go wrong, in new and strange ways. Time travel is always a dicey proposition...
But it does no good to dwell on the negative possibilities. At the flick of a switch, the machine initialises, temporal energies building up to send me back into my past. A little trip to this morning is programmed in with just a few keypresses.

Dabbling in time has its share of interesting effects.

Points for guessing which game I've been playing lately
