Adore, adore... by Mycotae

Adore, adore...

Mycotae

“Adoration”

“Soft cooing noises accompanies it as it seems to glide effortlessly on four spindly legs. Its eyes are always darting about, both scanning for its next conquest and taking in the adoration pouring from its current circle. It carries the essence, the energy, of its past preys as a trophy, ready to imbibe them whenever it needs to take on their soul. By doing so, it molds its nature, its likes and manners according to who it goes after.

It mimics or caters to those around it, charming them, changing itself so they will love and adore it, never revealing its ugly true self. When it is done with a victim or, gods forbid, when they realize the true nature of this monster, it will shriek and run away, abandoning the dazed and wounded prey.

Settling down again, it will continue to lie, to cheat and deceive those around it, alternating between playing the martyr and the protector, until it inevitably gets what it wants.”

PS this isn’t directed to anyone in particular, but I am sure a lot of us have dealt with this type of creature.
