I recently got to thinking that I'd stated in my story, "Beyond Appearances", that Princess Isabelle was a hyena warrior. As a result, I contacted the original artist of Princess Isabelle, Yamidog (www.furaffinity.net/user/yamidog/), and requested a drawing of Isabelle in her armor. I had to work for several days to get the description of her armor to look the way I wanted it to look and even then, I had to make a few corrections to the drawing. I used a general knight's armor as the basis and, since metallurgy is rare in the time frame of "Beyond Appearances" and expensive when you can find it, I decided to go with a leather armor five layers thick with each succeeding layer being 45 degrees to the previous one. The outer layer is tanned crocodile or alligator skin including the bony scutes (osteoderms) for extra protection during a battle.
