One of my compositions I've done for my undergrad portfolio.
This piece demonstrates my skills primarily in MIDI.
This was used as a representation of a video game piece; while there are electronic elements incorporated, this project is more directed towards making a song that would fit within a video game. This song was inspired by the field music in the Playstation 1 title: ‘Final Fantasy IX’.
This composition was originally done as an assignment in my undergrad three years ago; it was done on Cubase. For my portfolio, I brought the MIDI from Cubase, and worked on it on Pro Tools for mixing and mastering; there were certain sounds from Cubase that I brought over that I found invaluable to my project.
This song has taught me to develop a sense of patience in dynamics, encouraging me to mock some other video game songs, and try to develop my own technique in approaching it. Additionally, I have learned how to develop a good sense of layering in order for the song to sound as full and enriched as possible.
Enjoy!!
