Fire Lookout's are locations used to spot forest fires, when they erupt (either by lightning or other means).

This was a sketch, from memory, of the Martis Peak Fire Lookout, along the ridge north of North Shore, Lake Tahoe.

You can actually drive up to this facility from the roadway, between Brockway and Truckee.
