Ask Thom: Do Androids Dream of Merciful Death?

mongreldog

Another response to an Ask Thom question!

the pink stuff is PHOME, a spray-on sealant foam that bonds with anything and sets harder than steel. it's used by deep space recovery engineers like Thom here as an all-purpose fixer for all kinds of situations. Don't get it on you though, it'll never come off.

This is related to a setting I've come up with for a comic/story/thing. Existing sometime in the future, REZQ is a private company that specialises in deep space rescues and recoveries. FTL drive on the fritz? Call REZQ. Orbit decaying? Call REZQ. Hull punctured by an asteroid, venting your O2 into space? Call REZQ.

Unfortunately, like many big companies, REZQ also specialise in being cheapskate, money-grubbing, underpaying dickbags. Thom, the cartoon dog in question, somehow ended up working for them, in sole command and occupation of Angel Fish, one of their recovery vessels. The story/comic/whatever explores his experiences on the job and off it: loneliness, boredom, frustration, grief and guilt.

much more stuff at my FA Gallery but I'll be uploading here frequently too!
