The first chapter of my novel, The Changing Angel.

I want to finish the story before I go back to tweak the first chapters (technology needs some upgrading and a few minor plot points to be updated). I do hope to have this published someday, so the final version will have some slight changes.

The more obvious non-humans will appear a bit later in the story.
