I've wanted to implement some form of zooming for a while. Initially I planned to go for automated scrolling as the image transitions, but that comes with its own complications in the given setup. I thus decided to implement something simpler and more interactive: A magnifier glass to zoom in on parts of images.
To use it, simply position and drag the cursor over the active image: The background will darken and you'll see a little circle with the zoomed in version of its content. To remove it, simply drag the cursor away from the image or wait 5 seconds without moving the mouse. The magnifier is set to 2x zoom, while the size of the circle is automatically adjusted based on the scale and proportions of the image (half of its width or height, whichever is smaller).
