The national bird of India, the Indian Peafowl is well known throughout the world for the male’s fabulous plumage. ‘Eyes’ have evolved unto their fanning tail both as a method of intimidation to larger predators and for use in mating rituals. Their cry that some say sounds like a young girl yelling ‘Help!’ has earned restrictions placed on where these birds can be kept due to many false 911 calls.
