Study: Fancy Cow (critique requested)

Meris

Finished the brush work for my cow portrait based on Rembrandt's Portrait of Hendrickje Stoffels

I'm sure there are things that could be fixed, but at this point I'm kind of sick of looking at it :P

I'm not sure if it's what you're going for or not, but it feels like an oil-painting... like what you'd find in a museum? I like how everything sticks to the same style and it blends in well. It feels "old" which seems pretty awesome to me! The only thing I can point out, is for most of the picture it feels like there's no lines then I see an area (like raised hoof, and on the right neck-shoulder) where you can see the line-art more than other places.

I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be like that or not so went googling for the image you mentioned to compare, and you did an excellent job of replicating it with a new character ^,^ Though they are two different "people" they still have the same over-all vibe and flow.

(note: I tend to submit comments where I can since I know how it is to want feedback but not receive any)

thank you! I tried to replicate the Rembrandt portrait as best as I could digitally; I'm glad it feels like an old oil painting.

I think I'll do a second pass over it and try to soften up those lines. They are very noticeably different from the rest of the painting.

Oh hey, this is for Chris Oatley's class, right? I think it came out really well! The colors in particular are really nice and harmonious. I like your selection of portrait/animal too, it just works!
